Heureusement, les sites locaux des moteurs de recherche favorisent l’encodage et proposent en option cette restriction de recherche locale qui est rarement utilisée. Prenons par exemple le cas de Google.fr : La recherche est automatiquement proposée en français et peut offrir un contenu non francophone google.fr/search?hl=fr&q=mot-clé&btnG=Recherche+Google&meta= En cochant l’option Pages francophones un nouveau paramètre s’ajoute &meta=lr%3Dlang_fr et on aura des résultats ne proposant qu’un contenu francophone. En cochant Pages : France un nouveau paramètre s’ajoute cr%3DcountryFR et qu’est ce qui va changer ? Comment Google pourrait deviner la géolocalisation d’un site web ?…

L’idée de ce billet n’est pas de déplorer ces manques (que l’on retrouve dans nombre de nos outils locaux) mais de proposer une solution de contournement, et en profiter pour ajouter certaines fonctionnalités qui n’auraient pas forcément leur place dans l’interface standard. Les fonctionnalités que la solution va ajouter sont : * des flux RSS (qui devrait intégrer bientôt la version standard du sudoc) * les suggestions orthographiques en l’absence de résultat * des permaliens sur les notices * l’affichage de la disponibilité dans une sélection de bibliothèques prédéfinies dès la notice détaillée * la géolocalisation des exemplaires sur une carte * les enrichissements de notice type 2.0 : couvertures d’Amazon, suggestions de documents similaires & autres éditions d’un ouvrage depuis Librarything.

Geocaching est un jeu dans le monde de la clandestinité et de la recherche de trésor. By inserting the non-JS version of the widget into the comment area of your photo page, you can basically be monitoring the live visitor traffic on that photo. The tool's ability to display geographical data about the visitors makes it a great supplement to the Flickr Stats which does not disclose visitors' location. I have only placed this on my top-viewed assets since today so I can't really comment any further about its effectiveness - though I must say that I do find it interesting that while my main sites and blogs receive mostly U.S. traffic, it appears that visitors to my media assets on Flickr are fairly diverse. If that's really the case (and only time will time after I have collected enough data), it will provide a really strong case for marketing... which in turn will explain why what all those yahoo ad servers requests may really be about... (of course that's just a hunch) - but in any case, it's an interesting site to check out.
