MacFusion | The GUI for MacFUSE

by 1 other
MacFusion brings all sorts of information to your Mac in the form of files and folders displayed as just another "Volume" on your Mac desktop. Right now you can use this software to show a Secure Shell or Secure FTP share from another computer on your macs desktop, letting you manipulate the files on it as if they were on your own computer. MacFusion can also do the same for any File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server, giving read/write FTP in the finder for the first time! MacFusion works using open source technology called FUSE ported by Google to the Mac platform (MacFuse).

macfuse - Google Code

by 5 others
MacFUSE implements a mechanism that makes it possible to implement a fully functional file system in a user-space program on Mac OS X (10.4 and above). It aims to be API-compliant with the FUSE (File-system in USErspace) mechanism that originated on Linux. Therefore, many existing FUSE file systems become readily usable on Mac OS X. The core of MacFUSE is in a dynamically loadable kernel extension.

Here’s how to become a totally evil, worm-like creature with Google’s array of services in under a month

OSWeekly.com - Why Google OS Already Exists

(via)
Let's face it. Google pretty much owns the Internet landscape. Unless something truly unexpected happens within the web community, I see no real indicator that they'll lose their market share anytime soon. This also opens them up to other online opportunities should they decide to pursue them. One such opportunity is believed to be the much famed idea of a Google OS. The rumors have been floating around back and forth for awhile now and many people believe that it's simply a matter of time. Well I'm here to tell you that this is never going to happen; at least not in a form that we might expect to see, that is.

Peut-on se fier à Google ? Enquête sur des résultats étranges

by 2 others
Avec ses lettres de couleur et son écran sobre, son critère de classement innovant et pertinent et son index volumineux, Google a su en quelques années s’imposer pour devenir la référence en terme de recherches sur Internet.

GWEI - Google Will Eat Itself

by 1 other
We generate money by serving Google text advertisments on a network of hidden Websites. With this money we automatically buy Google shares. We buy Google via their own advertisment! Google eats itself - but in the end "we" own it! By establishing this model we deconstruct the new global advertisment mechanisms by rendering them into a surreal click-based economic model.

Qui a peur de Google? Tout le monde. - Mitternacht Reloaded

by 1 other
Ce billet est la traduction à la youpla de cet article de Wired.com, trouvé via Slashdot. C'est LE résumé que j'attendais concernant l'omniprésence de Google dans... ben... dans tout, c'est le principe de base de l'omniprésence.

Why Google's Business Model is So Revolutionary

by 1 other
The more I study them, the more convinced I am that Google has a truly revolutionary business model, and are the most visible pioneers of the emerging 21st century Gift Economy. Microsoft, and the irresponsible brokers who keep flogging overpriced stocks based on unsustainable growth promises, and everyone else who owes their living to the Ponzi scheme that is the modern growth/market economy, should be very afraid.

Slashdot | Google's Secret Plans For All That Dark Fiber?

Google hired a pair of very bright industrial designers to figure out how to cram the greatest number of CPUs, the most storage, memory and power support into a 20- or 40-foot box. We're talking about 5000 Opteron processors and 3.5 petabytes of disk storage that can be dropped-off overnight by a tractor-trailer rig.

Google-Mart

Play to your strengths. That's the key to success in any industry. This is the week I promised to explain where I think Google is headed, and playing to the company's strengths is key if they are going to do what I think, which is effectively take over the Internet. Oh they won't steal it or strong-arm us. They'll seduce us into giving it to them. And I am not at all sure that's a bad thing.

GooOS, the Google Operating System (kottke.org)

by 5 others
Google isn't worried about Yahoo! or Microsoft's search efforts...although the media's focus on that is probably to their advantage. Their real target is Windows. Who needs Windows when anyone can have free unlimited access to the world's fastest computer running the smartest operating system?

Topix.net Weblog: The Secret Source of Google's Power

by 4 others
Much is being written about Gmail, Google's new free webmail system. There's something deeper to learn about Google from this product than the initial reaction to the product features, however. Ignore for a moment the observations about Google leapfrogging their competitors with more user value and a new feature or two. Or Google diversifying away from search into other applications; they've been doing that for a while. Or the privacy red herring.

L’algorithme du PageRank est un des sujets qui a suscité le plus de débats passionnels auprès des Webmasters. Il existe de ce fait de nombreux articles traitant du sujet sur Internet, mais la plupart sont rédigés en anglais.
