A public-school handout urging young children in Virginia to attend a "Pagan ritual" tomorrow to "celebrate Yule" is sparking objections from concerned parents. "Amazing -- government schools ban orthodox Christianity, but allow an openly pagan organization to proselytize six-year-olds!" one observer who asked for anonymity told WND.

Islam is being taught in the nation's public schools as a religion to be embraced because "organized Islamists have gained control of textbook content," according to an organization that analyzes textbooks. The American Textbook Council has concluded that the situation is the consequence of "the interplay of determined Islamic political activists, textbook editors, and multiculturally minded social studies curriculum planners."

There are stark differences between the manifestations of radical Christianity, as taught by Christ and His true disciples, and radical Islam, as taught by Mohammed and those who have followed his teachings down through the ages. One is radically merciful, the other radically merciless. One is radically redemptive, the other filled with radical retribution. Indeed, sadly, Islam has no concept for forgiveness. Christianity, on the other hand, is all about forgiveness.

In Chicago, an ambulance driver refused to transport a patient for an abortion. In California, fertility specialists rebuffed a gay woman seeking artificial insemination. In Texas, a pharmacist turned away a rape victim seeking the morning-after pill.

Americans apparently know more about "The Simpsons" than they do about the First Amendment. Only one in four Americans can name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment (freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition for redress of grievances.) But more than half can name at least two members of the cartoon family, according to a survey. :-( I was only able to name 4 of the 5 guarantees in the 1st Amendment. (I left out "petition for redress of grievances.")

A new poll released this week reveals some disturbing findings, yet the results can hardly be called surprising. Americans, by a clear majority, feel that religion is “under attack” in America. From schools, to department stores, to public display, more and more, the religious is being replaced by the secular.

Is motherhood instinctive or learned behavior? Both religion and science tell us that it is instinctive, much to the distaste of the feminist ideologists, who have never been overburdened by a solid grasp on either. But one need only watch the way in which a young girl mothers her stuffed animals to see the maternal instinct at work.

I recently exchanged e-mails with a person who disagreed somewhat strongly with some of my public policy positions. This disagreement was neither unusual nor note-worthy, in and of itself. But it became especially irksome to me when the discussion turned to the liberals' standard fallback position: an outraged accusation of my alleged violation of the Constitution's ironclad requirement for the "Separation of Church and State."
