California’s Fuel Economy Standard Will be 44 mpg by 2020
According to new federal regulations by 2020 the average vehicle fuel economy standards should be adjusted to 35 mpg. However the state California decided to set its own rules long before the new standards were passed by the Federal Government. To individualize the regulations, California as well as 15 other states needed a waiver from EPA.
