Il y établit, pour 36 technologies, le cycle de maturité, l'impact et la vitesse d'adoption sur les 10 années à venir. 300 analystes du Gartner ont pour cela passé au peigne fin plus de 1 900 technologies et tendances du marché.

Since 1995, Gartner has used Hype Cycles to characterize the over-enthusiasm or "hype" and subsequent disappointment that typically happens with the introduction of new technologies (see Understanding Gartner's Hype Cycles) for an introduction to the Hype Cycle concepts). Hype Cycles also show how and when technologies move beyond the hype, offer practical benefits and become widely accepted.

It seems that Web 2.0 has now fallen firmly into Gartner’s so-called Trough of Disillusionment. My friend Radovan Janecek points to a slew of rants by technology insiders sick of seeing the same tired buzzwords bandied about with little regard for substance.

The term Web 2.0 particularly bugs me. It's not a real concept. It has no meaning. It's a big, vague, nebulous cloud of pure architectural nothingness. When people use the term Web 2.0, I always feel a little bit stupider for the rest of the day.

This is not about Flash vs. HTML or Ajax. It's using Flash + HTML with the Ajax approach to build Web 2.0 applications (to be fully buzzword compliant).
