It’s important to note that PDF/UA is neither a spec to measure PDF content, like the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), nor an everyday authoring guide. It focuses on giving developers of PDF authoring tools and viewers, as well as vendors of assistive technologies that support PDF, critical information on how to build and present PDF content more accessibly. The goal is to make accessible PDFs easy to author and use, however they are produced.

Sans frontière, universel et libre (a priori), Internet est pour beaucoup la démonstration d’une utopie devenue réalité. Aujourd’hui, même les noms de domaine dépassent le cadre de l’alphabet romain, permettant à de nombreux dialectes du globe d’être représentés. Pourtant, Internet est encore bien loin de représenter tout le monde.

Dans la lignée du sujet “Existe t’il des solutions de présentations web accessibles ?”, étudié lors de ma formation d’Expert Accessibilité, j’ai donc présenté quelques bonnes pratiques à mettre en œuvre lorsqu’un orateur effectue une présentation en public et qu’elle se retrouve ensuite présente sur le web.

Web accessibility can sometimes be a controversial topic, but a fiery dialogue is a healthy sign of just how much people really care. While opinions may vary on specific issues, one thing is clear: Equal access to information is paramount in the digital age.

There has been much discussion, and some arguments, about how to determine the accessibility of websites. Unfortunately, this is often polarised around two simplistic choices: A compliance/conformance based approach that usually involves a checklist of criteria; or, some form of user testing by people who have different disabilities and/or who rely on different assistive technologies. Both approaches have their strength and limitations, and neither can provide a reliable declaration about the accessibility of a site on its own.

This post is a compilation of disability statistics from government agencies and researchers in the US, UK and Canada. The statistics shown have most impact on website use, and help assess the impact of accessibility problems, in terms of numbers of people affected, and likely commercial impact.

I do not have all the answers and I would love to hear from anyone who can contribute to these ideas.

The presentation considered how many people over the age of 60 use the web, how much they use it and why they use it. It outlined some common issues older web users encounter and the general lack of awareness by them about how they can control the presentation of web content.

Faciliter la lecture d'informations sur le web, c'est donc à la fois travailler sur la facilité de perception et sur la facilité de compréhension du contenu. S'ajoutent à ces considérations tout ce qui tourne autour de l'accessibilité des sites web, notamment à l'adresse des déficients visuels. Si le site doit pouvoir être vu et lu correctement, il doit aussi pouvoir être traité par une synthèse vocale avec efficacité et efficience, et son apparence devrait pouvoir s'adapter en fonction des choix de l'utilisateur.

Depuis la publication du [Lien externe]décret n° 2009-546 du 14 mai 2009, les nouveaux sites Web des services de l’État et des collectivités doivent être accessibles aux personnes handicapées et conformes au Référentiel général d’accessibilité pour les administrations (RGAA) . Les sites Web des collectivités qui étaient déjà en ligne à la date de publication du décret, ont jusqu’au 14 mai 2012 pour se mettre en conformité.
