The system is based on the Intel Q45 chipset and features an Intel Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual Core or Celeron CPU and up to 8GB of Non-ECC DDR3 1066MHz memory. The OptiPlex 780 is configurable with up to two 3.5- or 2.5-inch storage units, including standard hard drives and solid state drives. The drives can be configured without RAID or in RAID 0 and 1 modes. Optical drive options include a DVD ROM or a DVD burner, but the system can be also configured without optical device.

The Dell PowerEdge T310 is the company’s latest single-socket tower server. Along with a single Intel Xeon 3400 Series quad-core CPU, the Intel 3420 chipset-based PowerEdge T310 includes up to 32GB of registered (RDIMM) or up to 8GB of unregistered (UDIMM) DDR3 memory, and up to four 3.5″ cabled or hot-swap SAS or SATA hard drives for a maximum of 4TB of internal storage. The system has an onboard SATA controller without RAID functionality, but there’s a variety of additional storage controllers supporting up to RAID 10. Intel Core i5-750 Available for Pre-Order, Coming September 8

The Intel Core i5-750, the company’s new 45nm quad core processor, can be pre-ordered now and will be available on September 8, according to a product page at SuperBiiz.com. The first Core i5 CPU is clocked at 2.66GHz. It has 8MB of cache and a TDP of 95W. The chip is designed for the Socket LGA1156, found on new and already available Intel P55 chipset-based motherboards. The Core i5-750 is priced at $219.99, while the P55 mainboards start at $109.99.

Hewlett-Packard has released recently the HP ProLiant ML150 G6 Server series, a new 5U tower 2-socket system based on Intel’s new Nehalem CPU microarchitecture. When compared to the Intel 5100 chipset-based ProLiant ML150 G5, the ML150 G6 (Generation 6) with the Intel 5500 chipset features newer Intel Xeon dual- or quad-core processors with integrated memory controllers, support for up to 48GB of DDR3 memory instead of up to 16GB DDR2, new controller and adapter options, a new chassis design, and other innovations.
