Boy In Static is Boston's Alexander Chen, a self-taught musician, singer/songwriter and graphic artist. Beginning his recording career with a three-song demo and a game of email tag with the Notwist's Alien Transistor label, Boy In Static's first album, Newborn, was released in 2005 after the two sides finally met at a Boston area concert. An amply proficient musician, Chen is able to play numerous instruments as well as arrange the live recordings he produces with a tight-knit group of musical collaborators. With a sound that ranges from the wall-of-sound aesthetic of Creation's heyday to the electronic pop of Morr Music, Boy In Static's music finds a comfortable balance between processed sounds and timeless songwriting.

The "midiGun" is a novel handheld midi controller. This gun shaped interface was especially designed to remotely control real time music softwares, including Ableton LIVE, Traktor DJ). The "midiGun" simultaneously replaces the classical DJ mixer and the keyboard. Because of its practical shape and easily accessible knobs, buttons and sensors, the “midiGun” is very easy to use. The user of the “midiGun” can trigger and control sounds and effects on a PC without watching a monitor or using a mouse and keyboard. The controllers and sensors can be individually customized to fit the connected software or to serve individual user preferences. The "midiGun" offers 16 different controllers which can be incorporated in 16 switchable sets. This allows for a total of 256 independent sound and effects controls at the reach of the users fingertips. Additional lighting effects and a visible distance measuring laser beam guarantee the attention of the audience.

Minim is an audio library that uses the JavaSound API, a bit of Tritonus, and Javazoom’s MP3SPI to provide an easy to use audio library for people developing in the Processing environment.

A few years ago I had this idea of building a monstrous instrument that would be played with giant wire-bound gloves and big copper bars. After making the prototype I accidently grabbed one of the bars with my hand and realized that the sound went through me!. That led to the idea of a whole piano made up of human hands.
