We really love following up on the latest trends. Today, while browsing through some websites, we saw a few which had a common element. Yes, Rainbows! If used carefully, Rainbows can give a cool look and feel to your website. Though we couldn't find many, we have gathered as much as we could. But the question remains unanswered. Does the use of Rainbows mark the beginning of a new trend? We can't confirm until we get to see more similar designs. So please share your link if you find one that is particularly good.

Notes on Design » Blog Archive » Sustainable Typography

The concept of “green” typography may seem ridiculous to non-type-nerds and, yes OK, perhaps typography can’t conquer climate change, but it can certainly help communicate it! With these thoughts in mind, I thought it would be interesting to share some recent examples I’ve found of contemporary typography that truly redefine those terrifying visions of green (and tree-shaped) logos!

Functional Design for a Dysfunctional World - That’s Design!

Introduction We are facing a planet that is slowly disintegrating by pollution and global warming. We live in a society that is sadly corrupted by violence and inequality. And in which poverty goes hand in hand with over consumption. Our world certainly is a dysfunctional world. This exhibition focuses on a group of young designers who operate both as producers and social engineers. In their desire for an instantly engaged attitude, they reinterpret their own environment to offer useful and ingenious suggestions for design that can be at once critical, functional and witty. Using prosaic materials, found or recycled objects, and by reassembling and reconstructing old and new, they address environmental problems, gender issues, and politics of space, or simply press for a more human face of design. Not without humour they trigger awareness of our patterns of behaviour. And by exploring the symbolic values of the objects that surround us, they remind us that while we all share the dream of living in a better world we are equally responsible for creating or at least sustaining it. The participants in the exhibition are students or recent graduates of Konstfack from different departments, including Interior Design and architecture, Industrial Design, Glass and Ceramics and Textiles. Welie.com - Patterns in Interaction Design

by 6 others
A Pattern Library for Interaction Design This site contains a lot of best practices in Interaction Design. Over the years I have collected examples and insight on their applicability that I share with you here on this. So there is really no 'original' design to be found here, sorry. It has all been done before... See it as a reference or basic 'toolkit' you can use when design user experiences. It is no substitute for creative design, it simply seeks to describe what we know and have learned about solutions you will find abundantly on the web and even beyond. Every 'solution' described in these patterns may succeed in one context but may also fail in another. The challenge is to understand why and how it depends on elements of the context of use. I give you my opinion here, but may opinion is also subject to new insight...so this site will be updated!
