Dave Winer Noted this Blog on his Scripting News ! It may just be that the Edelman Team will help Social Media become a reality ! With content creation Specialists like “Who the heck is Dan Santow?” and Steve Rubel.
I’m a senior vice president at Edelman, the world’s largest privately held public relations firm. Until the beginning of 2008 I was the director of the Editorial Services practice in Chicago and Texas (with practice colleagues in New York and Atlanta). I still am, but I’ve taken on another role that’s now about 90 percent of my job, and that’s as editorial director of our worldwide intranet site, an exciting new challenge for me.
Before joining Edelman, I was a journalist, and have worked at Chicago magazine (senior editor), People magazine (staff writer in NY), and Hospitals & Health Networks (managing editor). I’ve also written for Town & Country, Redbook, Elle Décor, Met Home, the Chicago Tribune, Cooking Light, and Men’s Health, among other publications. Lastly, I’ve written seven books, five of which are nonfiction biographies for children (Scholastic), including one of Eleanor Roosevelt, my personal heroine.
I have a bachelor’s in political science from Vassar and a master’s in journalism from Northwestern. and of course Steve Rubel is a digital marketer with over 15 years experience. He currently serves as SVP, Director of Insights for Edelman Digital, a division of Edelman - the world’s largest independent PR firm. Edelman is also the Home Base for Steve Rubel.
Steve is charged with helping Edelman clients identify key insights, trends and emerging digital platforms that can be applied in marketing programs. He also explores these topics on his well-read Micro Persuasion weblog and in a bi-weekly column for AdAge Digital.
In addition, Steve is often sought out as a speaker and appears frequently in the press. He has been named to several prestigious lists, including: The Forbes.com Web Celeb 25, PC Magazine’s 100 Favorite Blogs, Media Magazine’s Media 100, the AlwaysOn/Technorati Open Media 100 and the CNET News.com Blog 100.
Prior to joining Edelman in 2006, Rubel worked in a variety of communications positions in corporate, non-profit and small/mid-sized PR firms.
